MERMAID A/S CLOSES DEALS WITH ARRIVA AND CITY-TRAFIK

In connection with Movia’s EU tender of bus routes in Copenhagen, in which City-Trafik and Arriva respectively bought licences to maintain various bus routes, Mermaid has closed business deals with both companies, involving an Integrated Bus Information system (IBI).

The IBI system is a newly developed information system built on the foundation of Mermaid’s DDS System and vTouch Pro. The system is modular and offers infotainment, internet hotspot, bus-signage and/or voice announcement. A Driver Control Unit (DCU) can also be installed, allowing the bus driver to control other parts of the IT system within the bus.

Arriva has chosen to buy the full package of the IBI system, whereas City-Trafik has bought the infotainment part as well as the WIFI hotspot.

Both deals include the delivery of hardware, software, system installation and a six-year on-site service deal involving monitoring service, hotline and licences.

None of the parties involved in the deals wish to make the financial aspect of the deals public.

The implementation of the system will begin in October 2011, and the system should be fully implemented at the end of March 2012.

This new development is considered a breakthrough in Mermaid’s aspiration to create core business solutions for public transport carriers.
